Technology Requirements

Our program at WVA requires students to have a desktop, laptop, or chromebook device.  The device does not have to be a huge financial investment.  We do have a limited number of chromebooks available for checkout.  Students will need a microphone and camera with their device.  This could be built-in or an external webcam.  Most chromebooks (and all that we check out) come with this feature.  

REQUIRED DOWNLOAD FOR COURSES

All students using their own device will need to add the Proctorio Lockdown Browser to their devices. 

What it does: helps protect academic integrity by limiting the ability to cheat during online assessments

  • During assessments, students are prevented from:
    • opening new tabs
    • switching to other applications
    • using unapproved extensions
    • using multiple monitors

What it does not do:

  • monitor camera or microphone activity
  • record activity
  • conflict with any other program/app/software on your computer
  • it is NOT a spyware
