Parent/Learning Coach Information
Students in grades 4–8 are at an exciting stage of developing the skills they need to become successful, independent online learners. During these years, they are building important habits such as:
-
Time management
-
Goal setting
-
Following multi-step directions
To help students succeed, we ask that families provide a Learning Coach—typically a parent or other trusted adult—to support their student throughout the learning process. While many students are motivated and eager to learn, having an adult available to encourage, guide, and help them stay on track makes a meaningful difference. Together, our staff and the learning coach can create a positive and successful online learning experience.
As Imagine Learning states, "The biggest change (from in-person learning) will be in how the instruction and curriculum are made available to your student. No matter your student’s age, skill level, or ability, it’s good to regularly check in on them to help monitor their progress and remind them that you’re still invested in their academic growth and achievement. Talk through challenges with them, and encourage them to work through struggles. And as you can, celebrate successes, both big and small."
