Finals for Grades 9-12

District Requirement

Because our classes are completed online and at the student's own pace, the final exam is an important way to show what they have learned throughout the course. To earn credit for the class, students must score at least 60% on the final exam for each course, no matter what the overall course grade is. If a student does not earn a passing score on the final exam, he/she will not receive credit for the course.

In order to take the final exam, students must complete all assignments in the course with a score of 60% or higher.

Final exams should be completed no later than the scheduled end date of the course (9 weeks or 18 weeks). All final exams must be completed in-person at one of the WVA labs, under the supervision of a test proctor. 

Taking The Exams

Final exam testers must follow these rules:

  • Students should have their notes and be prepared to use them during the final.

  • Students must turn in their cell phones.

  • Students may not utilize any other websites during their exam, except for Desmos for math exams.

  • Copying anything from other sites is prohibited and will result in test invalidation.

  • Students may not work with anyone else on any part of the exam. 

  • Students must pass the final exam in order to receive credit for the course. If they do not pass the first time, they should study and then take their ONE retake. A student who does not pass the exam after these two tries will receive a failing grade in the course. (district policy)

What if the student is unable to take the exam in-person?

A requirement of enrollment with Wickenburg Virtual Academy is that students take all final exams in-person. This expectation is laid out in the Online Learning Agreement, which is signed prior to receiving any classes. We understand that emergencies may arise. If a student is unable to come to a testing site to take the exam due to one of the reasons listed below, their parent/guardian may request the exam be proctored virtually, via Classwize and Google Meet, with a staff member at a secured location. There are a few reasons why WVA will permit a virtual exam. We encourage students who are sick or have other temporary situations to call our office to arrange an in-person time that will work for them.

  • There is a life emergency or issue that prevents the student from being able to come to the WVA lab.

  • The student has a chronic medical condition that makes on-campus testing not possible or unsafe.

  • The parent can supply documentation of the issue, if requested.
